Strange as it may sound, I need to ask that you make sure there is a doctor in the house before you read any further, because it has been proven (using science) that reading about Philips Ambilight TVs may cause you to faint from excitement. Warning heeded, take a gander at the latest offerings in the form of the FLP9632D range.

All the models boast the latest philips Perfect Pixel 3 HD processing engine, which comprises such technologies as 100Hz ClearLCD and HD-Natural Motion to help remove motion blur, 14-bit colour processing and Luminance Transient Improvement (PDF - be advised).

The 10-bit panels used offer 8,000:1 contrast ratios and 3ms response times, for all those measurements are worth. two-side Ambilight is present, not the surround lighting found on higher-end models and as much of a gimmick as it sounds, we at TrustedReviews are thoroughly sold on the system. All TVs have three HDMI ports, which we like to see, as well as the usual complement of Component ports, Scart and also USB ports for playing back digital content.

The 32in model sports a 720p/1080i(1,366 x 768) panel, with every model above that cramming in a full 1080p (1,920 x 1,080) version. Even better, the 32in is available now, with a £999 (under £1,000!) RRP, while the other models are to be released later in the month, costing £1,499, £1,799, £2,199 and £2,999 for the 37in, 42in, 47in and 52in sets respectively.

In addition, a three-side Ambilight, 37in model called the 37FPL9736D can be had for £1,799. Personally I'd rather the extra inches than a few LEDs in the top bezel, but the decision, as they say, is yours.
