As much as we have our doubts as to the usefulness of contrast ratio ratings, we have to concede that Sony's latest projector certainly doesn't skimp on its claims. This compares to offerings from Sony itself and BenQ which claim comparatively paltry 15,000:1 and 10,000:1 contrast ratios respectively.

The Bravia VPL-VW60 also claims a maximum image size of 300in (diagonal), sports full 1080p support and has Bravia Engine EX image processing on hand to clean up whatever images are fed into the twin HDMI ports. Also on hand is 60, 50 and 24fps support all with an operating volume of just 22dB.

Even better, though, is the price of ¥441,000 which at a direct conversion gives a little under £2,000. Even including the unavoidable UK mark-up, that should make the VPL-VW60 a compelling buy. And, in case you're still not sold on the idea, the remote is illuminated! (so easily pleased.... ed).
