If you have $899 (about £430) burning a hole on your pocket and need a decent (and very cool looking) home cinema system, the DAV-X10 from Sony may well be what you are looking for. It features an up-scaling DVD player, capable of 720p and 1080i output over HDMI, virtual surround-sound from the 2.1 speaker system provided, and as with all Bravia systems, is compatible with Sony’s One-Remote system. This basically means if you have this and a Bravia TV, you can use the one remote for the two systems.

Also included is a neat-sounding "Digital Cinema Audio Calibration”, which essentially sets up your speakers for you. The system works by having the user place a microphone in the position where they would usually sit and automatically adjusts the speakers to compensate for signal delay, distance and general room acoustic differences. This should be a great feature if you like to have your set-up calibrated properly, but don’t want the hassle, or don't have the time required to do so manually.

The system also incorporates an FM tuner and is able to stream music from a Bluetooth enabled device (like a Sony Ericsson phone, for example). No definite UK pricing is available yet, but the DAV-X10 will be available from September.
