With the introduction of the 'C Series' the company has announced four models – the 42in '42C3030DB', 37in '37C3030DB', 32in '32C3030DB' and 26in '26C3030DB' – which look set to send waves through the value end of the market.

All sport 1366 x 768 native resolution displays with nifty 500 cd/m2 brightness and a range of extremely high contrast ratios (5000:1 for the 37incher, 4000:1 for the 42 and 32 inchers and a non too shabby 3500:1 for the 26in). The company's much lauded 'Active Vision LCD', '3D Digital Comb Filter' and 'Digital Noise Reduction' display technologies also make it onboard.

Furthermore connectivity is excellent with two HDMI connections on each model plus 2x SCART (1x RGB), Component and PC Inputs. Audio is courtesy of NICAM stereo and SRS WOW and all manage a respectable 20W speaker output. An integrated Digital TV tuner with automatic set-up comes as standard at every size while – in my opinion – the slim bezel and metal stand (all are still wall mountable) belie their price saving roots.

So what are these much talked about costs? Well at just £999 for the 42C3030DB, £849 for the 37C3030DB and £699 for the 32C3030DB (no prices yet for the 26C3030DB) and no doubt extra web discounts to follow the hardest part of any buying decision will be in remembering the product codes...
