Samsung Unveils 63in Full HD Plasma With Bluetooth

The LCD/plasma war continues to rage with many manufacturers picking just one side. Not Samsung though, which continues to make a convincing argument for both...


This week it has rolled out three delicious new plasmas – the 63in 63P71FHD, 50in 50Q92HD, and 42in 42Q92HD – all of which sport fantastically high 15,000:1 contrast ratios, a 'Daylight Filter' layer to passively reduce glare and an 'Ultra Daylight Mode' which dynamically adjusts the picture during daytime viewing.

Apart from these similarities however the 63 incher really breaks away from its (proportionately) smaller and 720p limited brothers by featuring a 'Full HD' 1080p resolution and, rather remarkably, a Bluetooth adaptor. Now I can't remember seeing Bluetooth used on another plasma TV before but it does make a certain kind of sense – particularly when you consider Bluetooth enabled headphones and printers are becoming increasingly widespread.

Unfortunately, we don't yet have pricing or a release date for any of this sexy trio but, as with most Sammy products, expect those lucky Koreans to get it first and an international launch to follow.

So where do I currently stand on this LCD/plasma debate? Plasma. It's all about the motion blur and black levels baby...
