It was just two months ago when Evesham launched its ‘ALQEMI’ HD LCD TV range simultaneously bringing prices and our nation’s spelling to new lows and it hasn’t taken long to build upon this.

First up is the news that the company has expanded the Alqemi (I caps lock for no one) line up with the ‘TX’ series. This is comprised of 32in and 37in models with 1080i capable screens, fast 8ms response times and integrated digital and analogue tuners. On the acoustic side of things there’s support for Nicam stereo and virtual surround sound while the speakers are detachable.

Twin Scart, S-Video, Component, Composite, VGA and DVI inputs are provided though they are fitted with only one HDMI port apiece. On the plus side the 32in TX retails for just £499 (really, that isn’t a typo) while the 37 incher is a mere £749 and – yes – both prices include VAT.

Desperate not to be left behind by this price busting duo are two of the Alqemi’s original LCDs with the 37sx and 42s now both £50 cheaper at £799 and £899 respectively while the 42sx is an incredible £400 lighter on your wallet at £999.

Finally, if all that isn’t enough to get you hopping on the high definition bandwagon Evesham is bundling a free upscaling DVD player with all 42in Alqemi LCDs. The player has an RRP of £69.99 so it is an offer not to be sniffed at and should give your standard def video collection a welcome boost.

So a good day to buy technology in Britain. Excuse me, I need to go lay down.
