I first spotted these back in September at IFA 2006 but Samsung was cagey at best about whether we’d ever seen them mass produced.

Clearly demand has been met though and the 19 in LE19R71B, 23in LE23R71B and 32in LE32R71B will all be doing their very best to tie in with your Apple gadgetry.

To be honest, the big news here is the colour and specs wise they aren’t anything we haven’t seen before (literally) but the tech low down goes as follows: the baby of the bunch surprises most with a native 1440 x 900 resolution which is more monitor than TV, a 500:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness and 8ms response time. S-Video, SCART and D-Sub connections appear at the back though Component and HDMI are noticeable but their absence.

As for the larger fellows they share more in common with matching 1366 x 768 (1080i) native res panels, 8ms response times, 500 cd/m2 brightness and HDMI, D-Sub and 2x SCART connections but again Component is off the list. Where the two do differ is their contrast ratio which Samsung measures as 2000:1 for the 23 incher and 5000:1 for the LE32R71B.

The trio were announced without pricing or release information but I see nothing here technologically that suggests they shouldn't be casting superficial glances at other silver and black sets before too long.

And Mac users, can you please put away your tongues? I find it unnerving.

Update: Prices! £240 for the 19 incher, £365 if you want the midranger and £540 if 32 inches is more your style.
