Nice TV, shame about the poor viewing angles that have been plaguing Toshiba sets for yonks. Any chance of reviewing the XV version of this TV as well? One would assume it is above this set in the range? This is unlike in the previous generation where the XV sat just below the RV series, strange. It has 100hz processing and goes for around £650 now which is only about £30 more than this model - potentially a steal?
It was my birthday yesterday and my wife had agreed to buy me a new television for my b'day/xmas present so for the past week, I had be looking around for something of the high quality I would expect but within a budget of £700. After reading numerous reviews and scanning dozens of websites, I had decided that my best option was to go for the Panasonic 42" Plasma which is sold in both John Lewis and Costco for £700. I was all set to go to Costco and buy what I want; in and out was the plan!!Now; luckily I decided to get the opinion of the Sales Advisor on duty at the time and ended up spending about 40 minutes looking at the different options and listening to his advice on why I should go LCD and not Plasma; especially as I spend a lot of time playing on my XBox and PS3. This finally led to me to me taking his advice and going for the Toshiba 42RV635D (1080p 42" LCD) and on reflection, I couldn't be any happier.I immediately went home, set up my new television and was amazed by the quality; this TV delivers everything that it promises. The picture and Sound quality are outstanding; not only on the HD channels but even on the standard ones. The speakers that are set along the bottom edge of the screen offer outstnding sound quality, even without a seperate surround system and the intelligent lighting control makes the viewing experience a real treat.I would advise anyone to give this product serious consideration if they are looking for a quality screen of this size; and to top it all, it came at £100 cheaper than the TV I was orignially looking at so the value for money it outstanding.
