Key Features

  • Excellent 3-inch titling LCD screen
  • Fantastic AF with superior tracking
  • Full HD video in 24p and 60p

Who's it for? Action photographers who can't afford top pro gear. It's very fast and has outstanding autofocus and tracking.

Successor to the Sony Alpha 77, the Alpha 77 II makes great strides on its predecessor, boasting a new 24.3MP APS-C sensor, BIONZ X image processing,12fps burst shooting and built-in Wi-Fi. It also make improvements in the autofocus department, moving to 79 AF points thanks in part to a new phase-detection AF module.

This aids tracking subjects with sensitivity that can be adjusted by the user in accordance with what the subject requires. Image quality is excellent and it's a superb action SLR, even if strictly speaking it uses Sony's own SLT technology. If you like shooting sport or wildlife and can afford to spend big, this is a camera to check out.

Price: £1,000
