Shadow Vanguard sees you take control of a group of allies tasked with bringing down a well-organised terrorist group. Most first person shooters can be a bit fiddly to control using the iPhone’s touchscreen, but Shadow Vanguard’s gets around this problem by taking a more squad based, tactical approach.
Instead of relying on you to make quick and precise movements with the touchscreen, you’re tasked with ordering your troops into position by tapping on green icons that appear on the screen. Basically, most of the game involves getting your troops into position and then making a sudden attack on the enemy. The gameplay really is very satisfying, but unfortunately the graphics don’t look anywhere near as good as the likes of Rage HD.
The touchscreen controls and cleverly designed missions make this a whole heap of fun to play.
