Illustrating that the exponential growth rate of Solid State Drives shows no sign of slowing is news Californian company Super Talent has announced the first commercially available 512GB 2.5 incher.
Representing the new flagship in its 'MasterDrive RX' series, the 'SX28B6E25H' uses 512GB of MLC NAND Flash and combines this with blistering sequential read and write speeds which it claims manage 230MBps and 200MBps respectively. Now, we all know Random read and write speeds are where performance really lies in real world scenarios, but since no one is playing that game yet its hard to complain.
"The MasterDrive RX is the latest product utilizing our patented RAIDSSD Technology," said Super Talent senior product marketing manager Jeremy Werner. "From a performance standpoint it's like having two SSDs in the space of one, and it extends our standard 2.5" SATA-II product line to include a 512GB SSD."
Naturally you'll need deep pockets to err, pocket the SX28B6E25H since it will retail for $1,500 (£1,130) but don't forget just two years ago the enterprise targeting SimpleTech 512GB SSD sold for $15,000. If prices keep falling at this rate, we'll all have them by Christmas...!

RAID SSD? 512 GB? Sounds suspiciously like one of the solutions using twin JMicron controllers - a.k.a. still a turd. :p
