OCZ New Premium SSD Moves to Samsung Controller

If you didn't know it by now, the secret to a good SSD is a good memory controller. It not only greatly influences speed but also is a huge factor in determining long term reliability. So this looks a mouth watering union...
Solid State Drive speed and value masters OCZ are to launch a new flagship line dubbed 'Summit' and a new licensing agreement will see it partnered with Samsung's highly rated new controller.

Performance figures aren't yet available for the exciting range but it is expected to outperform the already jet propelled 250MBps read/180MBps write of current OCZ high watermark, the Vertex series. Capacities are also expected to be available at up to 250GB and possibly more. Power usage is expected to be just one watt at load.
Arrival time? As soon as April. Understandably the RRP remains a tightly guarded secret at present but with SSD prices continuing to drop like a stone (the OCZ 30GB Solid series retails for circa £60) it may not be the wallet shattering shock we all fear.
