Yes the SSD market still isn't where we'd like it with the capacity/cost equation not yet adding up and with the addition of Super Talent's latest dynamic duo they still don't but wow, the performance does...

Showing that read and write speeds are increasing at virtually the same rate as their exponential storage options, the 'UltraDrive LE' and 'UltraDrive ME' are the company's new product flagships. Unsurprisingly then that the cash rich (well, once) enterprise space is their primary target, though heirs and heiresses could also be tempted by the 230/170MBps and 200/160MBps read/write times of the LE and ME respectively.


Based on SLC (single layer cell) the LE comes in 2.5in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities while the MLC based ME offers the same plus a 256GBer. It is also interesting to note that the more economical MLC based drive is now tantalisingly close to matching SLC in terms of raw performance.

Both the UltraDrive LE and UltraDrive ME lines will launch in January and as you might expect prices have yet to be announced. That said, as they say, if you have to ask...
