TrustedReviews NewslettersAsus may be diluting its Eee brand to homeopathic levels but we're still feeling a lot of love for the Eee PC (particularly the 901) but for those wishing these little laptops came with more solid state storage Buffalo just answered your prayers...
As I'm sure those of you who have toyed with the idea of modding your Eee PCs are aware, these machines don't have a standard 1.8in/2.5in SSDs so praise be for the 'SHD-EP9M32G' 'SHD-EP9M64G' which offer straightforward plug-in PCI-E alternatives and come in capacious 32GB and 64GB sizes respectively.
Performance info hasn't been divulged (they are unlikely to be hitting the 120MBps read and 80/100MBps read speeds of current high-end SSDs) but they will undoubtedly match if not better the zip offered by the defacto Eee PC storage which is more than enough when combined with that diddy Atom CPU.
Pricing isn't bad either with the SHD-EP9M32G coming in at 16,800 yen (approx £80) and the SHD-EP9M64G going for 33,600 yen (approx £160) and the way solid state memory costs are crashing through the floor could mean they drop further still before their planned September launch.
Eee PCs, they're like Lego!
