Sometimes this industry is funny – you can spend years communicating with people and get to know them really well without ever meeting them. One company that I’ve got to know quite well over the past couple of years has been Swissbit – manufacturers of memory modules, high-speed flash memory and of course those really cool Victorinox Swiss Army Knife hybrid USB memory keys. But despite having reviewed lots of Swissbit products and being in constant contact with the PR staff, I had never actually met anyone face to face.

However, that changed last night when I enjoyed a very pleasant dinner with Robert Pfaeffli – Head of Marketing & PR at Swissbit. We spent a few hours discussing politics, sociology, technology and how not to approach celebrities when you spot them. Oh yeah, we also talked about some new products that Swissbit has added to its portfolio.

Top of the list of cool products has to be the new s.beat. Building on the success of the SwissMemory Victorinox range of combined Swiss Army Knives and USB memory keys, the s.beat takes this concept to the next logical step – slotting an MP3 player into a Swiss Army knife!

The s.beat combines a truly tiny MP3 player with a slightly larger Swiss Army knife, but the whole package still only measures 74 x 22 x 24mm. Like the previous knife models, you get a blade, a pair of scissors and a nail file/screwdriver as well as the MP3 player/memory key.
