New DVD Burners from Lite-On

Lite-On announced this week the release of two new DVD Burners.

The SOHW-832SX is an external drive that can burn to Dual layer discs. This means you can fit 8.5GB or 4 hours of DVD quality video onto one disc. The drive can also burn to single layer DVD+R and DVD-R at up to 8-speed and to DVD+RW and DVD-RW at up to 4-speed. DVD-ROM discs can be read at 12-speed.

CD writing isn’t neglected either with 48-speed CD-R burning and 24-speed CD-RW burning, while CDs are read at 40-speed.

The purple drive is highly portable and sports a USB 2.0 interface so you can easily hook it up to any PC with a compatible port. It features a 2MB buffer and features Smart burn technology to eliminate buffer under-runs. Ahead Nero Express 6 is the bundled software and the drive will cost around £110.

The SOHW-1213S is an internal drive. Though it doesn’t offer dual layer burning it is dual format, handling obth DVD+R/W and DVD-R/W formats. If offers the same burning speeds as the external drive, except for DVD+R which is handles at a faster 12-speed. It also features a 2MB buffer and Smart Burn technology, and Ahead Nero Express 6 and will be available for around £75.
