I'm curious how long you used the review pair for. I've had similar Sony MDR-series 'phones in the past which have had a touch of sibilant treble but most died down and became un-noticeable after a week or two of use (burn-in perhaps?)

Did the harsh treble on these persist in the long run or could it have been a short-term issue like the ones I've seen before?

Hi Yan,

When I noticed the treble issues I put them away for a decent burn-in session, but the high-end didn't seem to improve drastically throughout our testing. We tend to use earphones for a fair old while before reviewing - naturally it varies a bit but we allow for the "settling down" of drivers. They're not bad-sounding earphones but we try to keep in mind what else you can get for the same money.
