The wide angle end of the zoom is equivalent to 33mm.


The telephoto end is equivalent to 165mm.


Flash range is a bit limited and it is prone to red-eye.


Dynamic range is good for a compact, with a balance of shadow and highlight detail.


Colour reproduction is a little muted, but not at all bad.

I read some comments that battery life of the Sony T500 is rather poor, especially sthooting video is said to drain the battery in about 15 minutes. I'm wondering why this isn't mentioned here.

I'll confirm, as someone has suggested below, that the battery life is poor. In fact, it sucks. I went to an airshow, and didn't even capture 1/3 of what I would have liked to. I'm considering getting multiple batteries, but that in itself is kind of a pain in the butt.
