ISO 100 is sharp and detailed.

Sony HX20V ISO 200

ISO 200 shows little change from ISO 100.

Sony HX20V ISO 400

By ISO 400 softening has begun to occur.

Sony HX20V ISO 800

ISO 800 is the cut-off point in terms of overall image quality.

Sony HX20V ISO 1600

ISO 1600 is fairly soft and noisy.

Sony HX20V ISO 3200

By ISO 3200 detail in darker areas of the image has all but disappeared.

Sony HX20V ISO 6400

ISO 6400 is very much for emergencies only.

Sony HX20V ISO 12800

ISO 12,800 is best avoided altogether.

Bad noise reduction, you can enlarge the photo 2 (the one with sheeps) and see the nature... atrocious... plastic feel.

I don't think that most purchasers of this camera will be pixel-peeping and the noise-reduction artefacts will be unnoticeable at any sensible print sizes and on-screen viewing. Anyway, what you complain about can be said about most, if not all, shirt-pocket compacts and is one of the prices to pay for convenience.

Such an ASSHOLE .(Do you think camera should be made up of poly carbonate stuffs , especially this range camera )

Superb camera for the size and price....takes as good pictures as my DSLR most of the time and fits in my pocket..the zoom is incredible.11out of 10
