Something I have often missed is the ability to quietly squirrrel away versions of files as I am working on them. There are two products out there that do this very well
http/www.etkit.com and http://www.versionbackup.eu. Both do the job but in different ways. The second is easier to configure while the first offers more flexibility and throws in a host of other useful utilities.

What about Windows' own NTBackup? It is not pretty and I don't think it does system imaging but it does complete, incremental, differential, daily backups etc. It copies direct to USB-linked external HDDs - not sure whether it burns to DVDs however. But it is available via the Windows OS- free!
