So the news Microsoft was scrapping Windows 7 E seems to have brought universal approval, but while the browser 'ballot screen' is a great idea the move also left us with a number of questions. I put these to the company this week and here's what we've learnt.
How will the millions of users who have already pre-ordered Windows 7 E be affected by your decision?
While Microsoft will now have upgrade Full Packaged Product (FPP) SKUs of Windows 7 available in Europe, we will continue to honour the pricing offers made in Europe before this change is implemented. Users who have pre-ordered a full license to Windows 7 will be able to receive that license.
Will upgrade versions of Windows 7 [to move from Vista to Windows 7 without a complete reinstall] now be available in Europe?
Yes, we will have Full Packaged Product (FPP) upgrade in Europe now.

Do you know how the Windows 7 upgrade editions will be priced in Europe? Will they be available on 22 October with the main release?
"[We'll] let you know as soon as we hear."
Will the Windows 7 Family Pack edition now be available at launch given a 'SKU issue' was blamed for its European delay previously?
"We continue to ensure Windows 7 remains a compelling offer for customers. We are currently working through the implications of Friday's announcement and have no news to announce today."
Well we're a little clearer. I'll update this article once we get some more info. And yes, the Windows 7 pre-order site does still list E editions, it's just out of date.

If they are definitely on different primary partitions then it shouldn't be a problem.
