It may have been mocked for having barely more apps than you can count on two hands but Palm's 'App Catalog' could soon be swelled after it opened its WebOS SDK to developers.

'Mojo SDK' is now available for download which means coders can get cracking on third party apps. Unfortunately submissions will not be taken until the autumn but the waiting time should mean some pretty finely tuned apps when they launch before Christmas.

Of course many are deriding Palm for not having its App Catalog ready sooner but to be fair Apple only launched the App Store when the iPhone was already a year old. Apple had also previously denied any third party applications would be available on the platform at all - 1.5 billion cases of wrong as it turns out!

In related news Android and BlackBerry handsets got an app fillip this week with the launch of a Google Voice mobile client. For those not in the know, Google Voice allows users to combine all their contact numbers into a single Google Voice number and unites all voicemail and messaging. It will even read transcriptions of your messages.

Sadly Google Voice is currently only available in the US but if this has wetted your appetite check out the video below:

In mildly related news the explosion in the iPhone's gaming culture has seen its first (at least to my knowledge) 'Gaming Grip' courtesy of Exspect. It is designed to better fit in the palm of your hand whilst touching and swiping through the latest releases and may or may not be a little silly - I haven't decided yet. If you are swayed however the Gaming Grip is available at Amazon now for just £14.99.
