"we-couldn't-win-flogging-it-so-we're-going-to-win-by-giving-it-away"... You hit the nail on the head there, and they've done it on everything from Internet Explorer (vs. Netscape) to Hyper-V (vs. VMware).

Maybe the actual security model for new versions of their OS is where they should be concentrating their efforts?

the current version of Live Onecare is one of the best security/management apps out there (v2.5).
It is top of my recommendation list for home users.

I for one will be sorry to see it go.

I'm not so sure Gordon - it looks like only the AV side of OneCare will live on and not the whole feature set - lot of conflicting info at the moment
