Apple Confirms Early Snow Leopard Launch Comments

yet another service pack that apple charges full price for?

Seriously if M$ tried to charge 70 quid for XP service packs 1 through 3 everyone would have an absolute fit, but Apple gets away with it for Tiger and Leopard etc...

Doesn't look to me like Microsoft integrated GPGPU functionalities in Vista, let alone in XP service packs. So just wait for Snow Leopard to ship and then we'll talk.

Ok first off there are rumors that it might cost only $79.99 American dollars. Not the regular $129.99.

Second off is these are service packs. These add way more features and benifits then M$'s service packs. Their service packs are free because the original version should have had the fixes/ speed improvements.

Thirdly 10.4 brought over 200 improvements and 10.5 brought over 300 improvements. Since the original 10.0 apple has added over 1000 improvements. 10.6 is laying a foundation for more improvements in the future.

So many people rely on their computer hardware to do the majority of their work. Thing is their software programs aren't written properly and they could be using all 8 cores and using the 200 plus cores on the graphics card. Snow leopard is here to take advantage of the that.

@Chaos - if XP SP2 offered as much new functionality as Leopard did over Tiger, then maybe Microsoft would be right to charge £70 for it. As it is, I thought we would have a few more posts before this thread descended into an OS X vs Windows argument.

Hopefully, with Snow Leopard being so similar to Leopard, Apple won't charge the usual £70 fee for it - here's hoping to a half-price upgrade.

Go for it Gordon!! You'll love it, and for some reason if you don't just sell the Mac and go back to Windows. Mac's hold there value extremely well so its a minimal risk experience.

Says me, typing this on a hi-spec MacBook Pro running the Windows 7 pre-Beta on Boot Camp. But seriously, OS X 10.6 is the way forward.

Swap "improvements" for "missing features" and I think you may be closer.
