What a difference 10 months can make...

Following a - quite frankly bizarre - u-turn from Yahoo! CEO Jerry Lang late last week when he seemed to have conveniently forgotten all the quotes he made fighting off the Microsoft takeover bid, Steve Ballmer (no doubt with a big grin on his face) has taken the time to rub salt into the wounds.

Speaking at a business luncheon on Friday, Ballmer stated "We made an offer, we made another offer ... We moved on... We tried at one point to do a partnership around search … and that didn't work either, and we moved on and they moved on. We are not interested in going back and re-looking at an acquisition. I don't know why they would be either, frankly."

Well, here's a hint Steve: Google Adsense. Of course, you all know the TrustedReviews viewpoint. We thought it was a stupid idea in the first place.

Where does Yahoo! go from here? At present down, then probably down again and down some more. All of which is something of a shame since it has long been a pillar in most users early web experiences. Sadly, it's a dog-eat-dog world...

Oh and before I forget, that baffling Alzheimer-esque quote from Jerry Lang in full:

"To this day, I have to say that the best thing for Microsoft to do is to buy Yahoo. I don't think that is a bad idea at all - at the right price, whatever the price is, we are willing to sell the company. We were ready to negotiate, we wanted to negotiate a deal, and we felt that we weren't that far apart. But at the end of the day, they withdrew and they since have been very clear about not wanting to buy the company."

Dear Jerry... blow away the senility cobwebs with this...
