Dell Extends Desktop XP Sales

It isn't much of an extension, but it is enough to get Microsoft's backs up.

Following on from its decision to allow customers to downgrade to Windows XP ('downgrade' is a subjective term in my opinion) the monster box shifter has added a week to its standard XP sales deadline.


Raising two fingers to the Redmond 30 June cut-off date Dell is pushing the boat out to offer XP Home based systems until 26 June (20 June was the popular reseller limit due to stocking and shipping restrictions). Ultimately then Dell is offering up itself as the sole company this week (that we know of) which will continue to ship XP to the sane die-hards. After this date the downgrade scheme will kick in with a processing charge.

As it stands only Dell desktops will be offered under this short-lived scheme - specifically XPS 630, 720 H2C and M1730 models.

So if you are feeling the pain of the venerable OS's retail passing as much as me Dell will welcome you with open arms. Open, opportunistic arms...
