If the 60 million of you who are, apparently, using Windows Vista share the feelings of Gordon and Benny and believe that Microsoft’s latest disaster/success (delete as applicable) is in desperate need of a service pack then you may be about to get half of your wish. Leaked to various sites around the web a “Vista Performance and Reliability Pack” claims that it “resolves a number of individual issues which may be affecting some computers running Windows Vista.” Apparently this is using data gathered from the Automatic Error Reporting system built into the OS, which goes to show that all those annoying pop-ups are helping.

The additions that we’re all most excited about in the office are improvements to large file and directory transfer speeds, reliability and performance increases with newer graphics cards and increased video card driver compatibility. The full list of changes can be found over at Gizmodo. The only snag is that mere hours after the patches being found for download, Microsoft pulled them from the site. We advise you keep a look out for them appearing as an automatic update soon.
