By now I'm sure you'll all know my animosity feelings towards Windows Vista. A beautified OS at least two service packs away from where it should have been at launch. Good/bad news is that more than 60m of you now know what I'm talking about...

Yes my minions this is the remarkable number of copies Microsoft has now shipped of its stripped and massively delayed OS and the monolith's bigwigs were quick to lap up the acclaim at the company's annual financial analysts meeting.

"By our math[s - to we English], we eclipsed the entire installed base of Apple in the first five weeks of shipment," Microsoft's COO Kevin Turner – forgetting most people buy new PCs for speedier hardware not alternative software.

Incredibly however 60m is peanuts compared to another landmark Microsoft will soon reach: "The installed base of Windows computers this coming 12 months will reach one billion," said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. "If you stop and think about that for a second, by the end of our fiscal year '08 there will be more PCs running Windows in the world than there are automobiles, which to me is kind of a mind-numbing concept."

Yes Steve, mind-numbing and completely petrifying.
