Verdict
The Sky app has been available on iPhone for quite some time, but BSkyB took a while to come up with an Android version. However, it was worth the wait because the Android app is every bit as good as the iPhone version. The opening screen presents you with a list of different icons for different groups of channels, including categories such as HD channels, Entertainment, Lifestyle, Movies and Sports. 
Tap on these and you’re taken to the EPG that shows upcoming programmes laid out either as a vertical list in portrait mode, or as a traditional bricks-in-the-wall view when you turn you the handset on its side. More importantly, when you tap on an individual show you’re given the option of scheduling a recording. Requests for scheduled recordings are then sent from your phone to Sky’s servers, which in turn pass on the instruction to your Sky box. That’s handy when you’re away form home, but forgot to set your box to record the next episode of the Event.
Verdict
It’s great to see Sky giving the same love to Android users as it does to those who’ve opted for Apple’s hardware.
