The problems that I found with these devices are:

1. No surround sound over HDMI: you have to use the digital Optical connection.
2. They don't have the power to decode HD mkv movies and drop BluRay frames like crazy.

Unless those have been 'fixed' in the new version, I'd still not consider these as a Media Centre. Besides, you really need to be able to add a tuner device (Freeview HD or FreeSat HD): if you are going to plug in an external USB device, it negates the convenience and size of the PC. So what's the point.

Does 5.1 sound over HDMI (as does the older version)
Does faultless playback of MKV files (as does the older version)

If you are buying this solely as a media centre you want to get the cheaper Acer Revo and stick XBMC on it though ... that is what the Itel Atom is best equipped to do.
