Back to the Future’s DeLorean hits Rocket League on October 21 2015

Fans of the Back to the Future franchise have had October 21 2015 marked on their calendars for quite some time. Although folks on the internet have been getting it wildly wrong forever, this is the date Marty McFly visited with the intention of sorting out his wayward son.

Naturally, BTTF enthusiasts will be celebrating in multiple ways, but Rocket League gamers will actually have the chance to take the iconic DeLorean for a spin.

Psyonix, the maker of the half-driving-half-football game, has announced new DLC is coming, which brings the Doc Brown’s favoured mode of transport as a playable Battle-Car.

The Back to the Future Car Pack brings the DeLorean complete with folding yet wheels,  and the ‘burnt rubber’ rocket trail. The DLC pack will cost $1.99 when it lands next week.

Truth be told, we used to fantasise and joke about having the DeLorean Time Machine in our game months before it even came out,” Jeremy Dunham, the vice president of marketing wrote on the PlayStation blog.

“We were all such huge Back to the Future fans here at Psyonix, that it was one of the few ‘Holy Grails’ we had hoped for besides having a hit game. The fact that we’re getting both of those ‘best-case scenarios’ in the same year is an amazing accomplishment for us, they’re things we’ll never forget!”
