Ubisoft on their website explain that there is an inherent latency (delay) of around 50 milliseconds and that guitarists have been living with this for years.

That is total crap! I'm a professional guitarist and producer.

The best guitar-midi interface is around 12-14ms on a low E and that is pushing it!

50ms is awful if you can hear what you are playing in addition to the track being played over... easily heard as a delay.

There is something in the game called The Riff Repeater. It essentially takes all the frustrations you have with playing the song from scratch and irons them out into a neat, learnable system. From there you can fiddle with the difficulty, play the parts of a song that are causing you trouble, whatever you need to really nail a song, and really improve your skills.

How to get ZERO LAG...
Use a signal splitter to feed the signal from your guitar to the computer and to your own amp. The splitter I use is by Behringer (Ultra-DI D120) - this is an active one and work great - I'm not sure you'll get great results with just a simple 'Y' splitter. The downside is that you lose the in-game effects that are applied but you will learn how to recreate the sounds for each song using your own setup.
