The biggest problem I've always found with both Canon & Epson is that if you don't use them on a regular basis, they always seemed a tendency for the ink to dry out, and you end up having to waste even more ink doing those maintenance things.
My current HP I rarely use, sometimes months before doing a print, but the printouts always come out perfect each time, no maintenance sheets required etc. The only gripe I've really had with HP is that there drivers sometimes seem very bloatware.
