Canon's printer line-up has hardly left us wanting more, but we won't complain about the addition of two new all-in-ones the Pixma MP560 and MP490, and a compact photo printer, the Selphy CP790.

The MP560, with its 2in colour LCD, offers such features as printing from USB devices, Wi-Fi connectivity and audo-duplex printing. Speed-wise the MP560 9.2ipm and 6ipm for black and white and colour documents respectively and will deliver a 6in x 4in photo in 39 seconds.

The 1.8in LCD-endowed MP490 features a self-opening paper tray to help avoid paper jams and print speeds of 43 seconds, 4.8ipm and 8.4imp for a 6in x 4in photo, colour and black and white document. Both Pixma printers have an auto Photo Fix II feature, which purports to boost photo print quality.

The Selphy CP790 compact Photo Printer succeeds the CP770, 'upgraded' with a stylish green colour, coming with a "convenient storage basket" housing the printer itself, its paper, ink cartridge and power cord; aiding portability. An optional battery pack is available but a spade is apparently not included; alas.

The CP790 will print a 6in x 4in photo in about 43 seconds, a 10 per cent improvement in its predecessor. That isn't exactly rapid, but then this is portable printer so such concessions can be made. A 3in colour LCD enables both preview of images and the option to use Canon's "Creative Options" to retouch and add clip art, backgrounds and layouts to photos.
