The price of mass market printers is so ridiculously low these days I wonder they aren't given away with a bulk pack of cartridges? And yet you still get a massive amount of bang for your buck...

Epson's Stylus D92 is a perfect case in point. Announced yesterday afternoon it has everything the average home user could want: it features the company's impressive DURABrite Ultra Ink technology for borderless glossy, water resistant photos, romping (claimed) print speeds of up to 25ppm in mono and 13ppm in colour and Energy Star compliance to reduce power wastage.

On top of this a full suite of software is provided with Epson PhotoEnhance for touch-ups, Epson Creativity Suite for managing, filing and printing photos and Epson Easy Photo Print which removes red eye. The price for all this: £39.99 including VAT!

As for cartridges those shouldn't be too hard on your pocket either since the D92 uses four individual ink cartridges (£6.99 each) meaning only the colour which has been used needs to be replaced. For heavy ink users Epson also produces a value multipack containing all four colours.

The D92 will appear on shelves from June. If you're in need of a good all rounder then go pick it up... with the change from your groceries.
