If you are a regular reader of Simon's printer reviews then you'll know OKI's decision to go down the LED (rather than laser) route has led to a mixed reception, but if at first you only mildly please...

So busting out the gate we have the 'B4400' and 'B4600', two mass market monochrome LED printers with improved speeds and functionality but – all importantly – reduced RRPs.

Looking at the first of these promises OKI says the new machines will deliver real time prints at a blistering 26 pages per minute while the latter claim is addressed by the fact both PCL and an intelligent barcode prints have been added straight out the box. On top of this OKI has made the latest models easily accessible so changing cartridges or fixing paper jams (not that they could ever happen, naturally) doesn't mean wishing you'd been born double jointed.

The two devices also come bundled with software that has a selection of pre-configured models with options for PostScript support, additional paper handling and networking. The difference between the two: the B4600 has an integrated control panel.

RRPs are reasonable too with the B4400 going for just £219 and the B4600 a chunk more at £299. Will they impress this time? Simon, it's over to you...
