Accompanying the cameras, Canon has announced a new range of compact photo printers. These are known as the Selphy range, derived from Do-It-YourSELF PHotographY. Hmmm.
The Selphy range comprises of:
• Selphy CP400 – Super compact, fast (81 second borderless postcard photo prints), 300 dpi dye-sublimation entry level direct printer
• Selphy CP500 – compact, ultra high-speed (63 second borderless postcard photo prints ) 300 dpi dye-sublimation direct printer
• Selphy DS700 – two picolitre, 4800 x 1200 dpi ink jet printer that prints images quickly from all popular digital camera memory cards (85 second borderless postcard photo prints). A direct connection to the TV together with an easy to use remote control allows convenient image preview, selection and printing. It's also capable of printing from IrDA compatible camera-phones.

The Selphy CP400 will cost £120 including VAT, while the CP500 and the DS700 will cost, £149 and £199 respectively. The first two will be available in October, while the 700 will be available in November.
Canon has also released a new range of projectors known as Xeed. The SX50 is an SXGA+ resolution projector with a resolution of 1,400 x 1050. The lumens rating is bringt at 2500 ANSI, while the contrast ratio is a very high 1,000:1.
The SX50 uses three LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) panels, which Canon claims does away with the chicken wire effect that standard LCD panels often suffer from.

The projector is well connected with DVI, D-SUB, S-Video and composite inputs. The Xeed SX50 will be available from November 2004 for a suggested retail price of £2,839 including VAT.
