Dell Moves Into Colour Laser Market

Dell has been producing printers under its own brand since 2002, so it's a surprise that it hasn't as yet offered any colour lasers. This has all changed however, with the released of the Dell Laser 3000cn and the Dell Laser 3100cm.

Rather than focus on image quality Dell is highlighting the affordability and low running costs of the machines.

The printers have a resolution of 600 x 600dpi and offer print speeds of 25 pages per minute (ppm) for mono and five ppm for colour. Users can use Dell’s Colour Track software to select whether to use faster and cheaper black ink or to go for full colour prints.

Dell is also claiming that its low toner prices will ensure lower running costs. Both printers feature USB 2.0 connectivity, have a 10/100 Ethernet connector as standard and can support up to 576MB of memory. The Duty cycle is rated at a decent 45,000 pages per month.

The 3100cn benefits from extra paper input drawers for greater volume of paper, and a higher toner capacity which it claims will reduce colour costs buy around 30 per cent.

Dell is offering a one year next business day on-site warranty service. The printers are now available in Europe £314 for the 3000cn and £384 for the 3100cm.
