Do blu-ray players in general have a different picture quality, at all?
I simplistically thought its digital (disc) to digital (display), its pretty much just hand shaking and picking which bits of data to send (e.g. DTS-HD or DD-HD), the display is doing the real video decoding donkeys work (for 2d anyway).

from product user review on other sites, samsung breaks down fast...sony has copy protections...LG....well...seems ok...so actually the competiion for pioneer is not as much as you think.

You are correct! My Samsung in my bedroom went to crap, Sony TVs may rock but I heard the other stuff you can live without and LG, well same as you said, I guess they're fine! The pioneer will last a long time and the menu is simple but the features aside from no wifi seem to be there!
