Much like its lower power cousin, the Epsilon 80Plus 700 has a blue casing with a gold fan grill, though the fan itself is clear this time. In the box you get a mains cable, three thin black velcro cable ties, and four black thumb screws.

All cables are braided and of decent quality, though we were intrigued to note FSP has used both a 4-pin and 8-pin EPS 12V cables rather than just a 4+4, as can sometimes be found. The main motherboard cable, two PCI-Express cables (one of which is terminated in a 6+2 configuration), and the two auxiliary 12V cables are all 55cm long. One 85cm cable has three Molex connectors strung along it and is terminated in a floppy connector, while a second 80cm cable is home to another three Molex. Two further 80cm cables each have three SATA connectors. All of these are perfectly adequate for a normal sized case, but would be stretched to reach in some larger cases.

Performance under our stress tests was impeccable with all voltages remaining well within bounds and efficiency keeping above 81 per cent. Audio performance was less impressive, though, with this being our loudest PSU on test when idling. The noise level only increased slightly from 46dB to 49dB when under load, but the idle figure alone would be enough to put us off.

Verdict

The FSP Epsilon 80Plus 700W is a cheap and cheerful PSU that will provide all the performance you need without a worry. Unfortunately, it's let down by noticeably higher than average noise under low load conditions.
