At the rear is a lock switch, which locks the top of the mouse in place. Release the switch and lift the top off and you get to the battery compartment which takes two AAA batteries. On the front right hand side is a small connector to which you can connect a supplied power cable. This attaches to a USB port on your laptop or PC and powers the mouse instead of the batteries. This is great if you run out of batteries, but I would really have liked to have had the cable in the middle of the mouse instead of on the side as it catches quite easily when you use the mouse.

You also get a small carry pouch which feels quite cheap and an installation manual that covers most common USB stacks. This is also supplied in PDF format in multiple languages on the supplied CD.

For our left handed readers, you’ll be glad to know that by pressing both of the mouse buttons down for 3 seconds the buttons will swap over for southpaw usage. So there is no need to muck about with drivers or software to make this work.

There is one downside to the BT510 and that is the steep price of £36.95 which is slightly more than I’d be happy to pay for what really is a spare mouse.

Verdict

A functional if plain Bluetooth travel mouse, but the price tag is slightly too high.
