The third and final PSU from Tagan is the most powerful one it has available, at 480W. The TG480-U01 differs slightly from the i-Xeye, not only due to the lack of blue LEDs but also because it's a slightly older model without a factory fitted PCI Express power cable.

Tagan does however supply a suitable splitter for PCI Express, again covered in Tagan’s trademark rubberised copper mesh braiding with a ferrite filter on the end. This converts two dedicated Molex graphics card connectors to a single PCI Express graphics connector. Meanwhile, the two Molex connectors are ideal for anyone with a GeForce 6800 Ultra AGP card. Both of the graphics power cables are covered in the rubberised copper mesh braiding and have a ferrite filter on the end.
The TG480-U01 also comes with eight Molex connectors shared between four cables, two of which have a floppy connector on the end. There are also four SATA power connectors - two per cable, convertible ATX/EPS and 12V cables, and a grounding cable. It seems Tagan is one of the few PSU manufacturers that tries to follow the market trends in terms of what features are needed for the various high-end PC platforms.
As with the other two Tagan models, the TG480-U01 was only average in terms of efficiency, but was well within spec. The voltages are generally quite good although at 100 per cent load the 12V rail dropped in a similar fashion to the TG330-U01, but remained within spec. Across the board, the Tagan units also had some of the best PFC results although the differences were very small indeed. All the Tagan units are also full range and we had no problems going as far down as 95V without any problems.

Tagan markets its power supplys as low noise and in our tests they really delivered. The TG480-U01 even stayed silent at 100 per cent load, which is very impressive especially compared to other supposedly “low noise” units on test.
Considering that the TG480-U01 costs £67.55 it is hard to find a more feature rich, high-end PSU as long as you are not too worried about the running costs. This is the ideal power supply for anyone using a high-end gaming graphics card. We doubt that anyone who purchases this PSU would be disappointed and it is a well deserved winner of our Editors Choice award.
