Jeantech is a brand that might be familiar to those in the UK who have been brave enough to go into their local PC World store, as it seems that it sells the Jeantech brand exclusively. The JN450W-120F-AP closely resembles other PSUs on test with a bottom mounted 120mm fan and a honeycomb mesh on the back, which has become a popular PSU design recently. The PSU was finished in silver chrome with a gold coloured fan guard, although other colours are available.

In terms of connectors the JN450W-120F-AP has six Molex connectors shared between three cables, two of them terminating with a floppy connector. This is a sensible way of doing things with two Molex connecters per cable. There’s also a single SATA power connector on a separate cable. As you would expect there’s a standard 20-pin ATX connector as well as a 12V and an AUX connector to round things off.

As the model name suggests the JN450W-120F-AP is rated at 450W, which should be more than enough even for a fairly high-end gaming PC. As with some of the other PSUs on test the Jeantech has a switch on the back. This can be set to Auto, High or Low to give you manual control of the fan, although we would recommend leaving it on the auto setting to play it safe.

The JN450W-120F-AP performed well in all of the tests without excelling in any specific ones, with the only problem being slight fluctuation in the power, especially at higher loads. It did however stay within spec so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue. The JN450W-120F-AP also had the best 12V rail performance at 100 per cent load, which is no mean feat.

Although not the most feature rich PSU on test, the Jeantech JN450W-120F-AP performed well and at £31.22 it’s our budget choice. As such it gains a Recommended award.
