What I know about digital pen tablets could be (quite literally) written on the back of a postage stamp (though in pretty small font). Still, I can tell a panting Ardjuna when I hear one...

So it is probably worth telling like minded digital scribblers that Wacom has now announced the second generation of its 'Bambo' interactive tablet - and the first on the market to merge multi-touch functionality with pen tablet tech in a single device.

The multi-touch comes in handy since the Bamboo 2G is compatible with Windows 7. Microsoft's impending OS can recognise thousands of touch commands and these are all detected by the device. Wacom gives the examples of "a simple tap with a finger on the digital pad will select an icon, open a menu or start an application. In addition, a gesture using two fingers enables users to simply rotate an image or document, flip through a digital photo album or presentation, scroll through a blog or an excel sheet and zoom in and out of a photo or map."

On a more basic level the 2nd gen Bamboo can be used to customise emails, letters, spreadsheets, presentations and documents with signatures, notes, doodles and scribbles. The coup de grace is the new Bamboo is eminently affordable at just £74.99.

So that's that. Please stop the heavy breathing now Ardjuna, it's off putting...
