Polar - makers of the awesome FT80 Fitness Computer - have yet another shiny new toy to tempt the gadget-loving fitness enthusiasts among us: the RS800CX Pro Team Edition. Ostensibly an upgrade to the standard RS800CX, the PTE brings not only an improved design - and looks! - but also improves on its predecessors feature set.

Apparently being used by several competitors in the Tour de France, the RS800CX PTE comes packaged with a speed sensor, a cadence sensor a WearLink transmitter and Polar Pro Trainer 5. About as comprehensive a mix of sensors as any cyclist could need, "providing personalised data about their body and exercise technique." An optional GPS sensor and stride sensor can provide even more data if desired.

A larger, programmable face on the watch itself provides better access to useful, real-time data than previous models. However, as with the FT80, the real magic is how the hardware works with the software, making monitoring - and sticking to - a training regime that bit easier.

There is a slight downside to the RS800CX PTE, in that Polar says it will only be available for a limited time, curiously enough. If you're interested, I can only suggest you get your £361.64 ready while units are available.
