Razer isn't the only company to announce a gaming headset at CES this year, peripheral specialists Logitech also got in on the act, adding a headset to its G-Series line of gaming peripherals. To be known as the G35, the headset features an extremely robust design and a very pleasing soft touch finish to the ear cups. Indeed, from our initial hands-on with the set, the G35 is among the best made headsets we've ever encountered - even if it might be considered a tad chunky as a result.

You get three different removable headbands in the box, so you can adjust the fit to suit you, while the customisation continues with three shortcut buttons that allow you to switch quickly between different audio profiles. This is also a USB headset, so has its own integrated soundcard and Logitech claims the set can expand stereo sources into 7.1 channel audio through a combination of Dolby Pro Logic II and Dolby Headphone processing.

Unlike many headsets, the G35 doesn't have inline controls, instead opting for controls on the headset itself. This actually works very well, with a large volume 'roller' that's very easy to use. Moreover, the microphone, which has a very flexible rubber mount, automatically mutes itself when stowed, negating the need for an on/off button for the mic.

This set will be shipping in the US in March for around $129.99 so it certainly won't be cheap, but it looks as though Logitech is about to give the likes of Razer and Sennheiser a run for their money.
