Razer Announces Lycosa Mirror, Arctosa Keyboards

Those, like us, not particularly won over by the Razer Lycosa gaming keyboard may well be pleased to hear that Razer has two new offerings to try and make up for the Lycosa's failings. The Lycosa Mirror and Arctosa are both built upon the basic Lycosa frame, but with a few differences.

The Lycosa Mirror, as the name suggests, substitutes a high gloss, mirrored finish for the matt black of the original Lycosa. Supposedly there's enhanced backlighting, too, which hopefully means it's now bright enough to actually illuminate the keys other than WSAD in 'gaming' mode. Coming in at the same $80 price as the original Lycosa, in the US at least, it's pretty clear the Lycosa Mirror is simply an aesthetic change to the Lycosa - not that there's anything wrong with that.

The Arctosa, however, is more obviously differentiated from the Lycosa as, despite using the same basic chassis, it forgoes the backlighting and non-slip coating. The Arctosa also loses the Lycosa's audio pass-through connectors and USB hub, although at $50 it does seem like a pretty decent budget option. We just need some new mice now. My Copperhead is getting a bit long in the tooth but there's still nothing out there to replace it.

A backlit keyboard like this would really appeal but I want a keyboard with a large double size enter key. Any suggestions?
