Gibson turned the guitar world on its head towards the end of last year when it released the world's first self tuning electric guitar - and having seen it sell out faster than your average emo band has decided it knows when it's onto a good thing...

Consequently, this week sees the announcement two new Gibson 'Robot Guitars': the 'Robot Les Paul Studio' (above) and the 'Robot SG Special' (below) both in the surprising choice of purple.

Prepped for a larger scale run (the original was extremely limited and sold out globally in one day), the duo will feature the same single strum, self tuning system witnessed first time around (the video still has to be seen to be believed).

On the downside, despite the maturation of the Robot technology, Gibson maintains a heavy premium on both models with the Studio retailing for $3,999 and the SG slightly less at $3,599. Gibson says both will only be available 'for a limited time' but it hasn't chosen to disclose a precise period suggesting the keen (and affluent) will have a better chance of picking one up this time around.

And yes, generous readers - if you forced me I would accept one as a present!
