If you’ve decided: better the devil you don’t know and chosen to upgrade to Windows Vista then a major question on your mind will be how to get all your personal data swapped around – well, Belkin has a simple, affordable answer.

The ‘Belkin Easy Transfer Cable for Windows Vista’ is the gloriously literal name given to a product I now don’t need to describe. As for the nitty gritty though it connects between two computers using their USB ports and comes with a software wizard - the also gloriously descriptive ‘Windows Easy Transfer Wizard’ - to get you up and running.

The interface of WETF lets users choose which items to copy or a ‘select all’ function is available. The software then copies files and settings like for like and eliminates tedious hours of manual data transfer as well as reorganising them. Over USB2.0 1GB should take around one minute to transfer, though if your data contains lots of small files this can slow down.

That said, what we have here is a straightforward/dead easy/even your grandma could do it (blindfold... with her nose) solution which may just make the heartache of driver incompatibilities and hacker attacks that accompany any new Microsoft OS that little bit easier to accept. The Belkin Easy Transfer Cable for Windows Vista goes on sale now with an RRP of £24.99.
