We’ve seen some pretty decent laptop stands in recent years – the EdgeBlur surface has long been my personal favourite, but Logitech looks set to realign my loyalties.

It has come up with the ‘Alto’ a rest designed to tackle that age old problem: while it is nice to have your screen at a more comfortable height, typing at 45 degrees sucks. Consequently the Alto has a built in full size keyboard with an integrated soft palm rest and all the shortcut buttons you could want including volume controls and assignable hot keys.

Furthermore the design sports an integrated USB2.0 hub with three dedicated ports and can be folded flat (427.8 x 237 x 35.7mm) for easy transportation and storage. Just as nifty, the keyboard can also fold up over the notebook when in the stand to free up desk space.

Logitech provides a cracking five year warranty with the Alto and with an RRP of £69.99 it may not be the cheapest stand on the market but it is easily the most fully featured.

So if you work primarily from a laptop give your neck and back a rest. After all a job only has the right to your soul, not your vertebrae...
